Aspen Spring Jam 2012

The 11th Annual Aspen Spring Jam March 16-17 & March 24-25, 2012 is the ultimate spring festival in the Rocky Mountains. Its a serious line up of big air, awesome concerts, rail hits, pond skimming and killer races in the Aspen Highland's Bowls. Also enjoy Sunset Skiing on select days throughout March and April!
- Core Party: 8pm : Down Town Aspen, Cooper & Galena St. Kick off Spring Jam in style at the Core Party featuring Broken Social Scene. It's a free show open to the public complete with a beer garden and yummy kettle corn. TBA band to be pumping out funky indie tunes to start the party out right!
- KickAspen Big Air : 8pm: Base of Aspen Mountain
The 12th annual KickAspen event is one locals do not miss! This year it will showcase some of the best skiier and snowboarders in the region to throw their biggest tricks under the lights at the base of Aspen Mountain for big prize money.
- Terrain Park Boot Camp: Saturday and Sunday: 12-3pm: Fanny Hill, Snowmass Mountain
This entry level terrain park camp is the perfect opportunity for those wanting to learn how to do those awesome tricks!
Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club coaches and athletes will teach beginners (13 and up) how to safely slide a rail, hit a box and throw a trick. From children to parents, this is open to anyone interested in learning the ropes of the terrain park.
- Fallen Friends Memorial Event: Time TBA: Aspen Highlands
Held in Aspen Highlands, this one-day event will gather teams of 2-6 to compete in an obstacle type course of jumps, bumps and park features. All the proceeds from the event will benefit the AVSC scholarship fund in honor of our “fallen friends” over the past few years. Registration will be on-line at www.aspensnowmass.com/springjam

- Helly Hansen Battle in the Bowls: Time TBA: Aspen Highlands
Watch as over 40 teams of two will ski the crazy bowls of Aspen Highlands on a course designed by Aspen athlete Chris Davenport. Of the many routes to the bottom, teams can pick which order to complete the runs however every single run on the list must be completed. It is an insane race to the finish!
- NEW EVENT! Red Bull Buttercup- Buttermilk
The first ever Red Bull Buttercup Rail Jam will be held at Buttermilk on Closing Day. This snowboard jam contest invites riders of all levels to come show off their most creative skills on a custom butter park. Only trick sequences that feature buttering will count and riders will be judged on style and creativity. Registration is only $20 and will take place on the day of the event.
- Red Bull Scheentag - Snowmass
If you were there last year, you know that is an event not to miss! This is the third annual Schneetag event (pronounced Sh-knee Tog) invites teams of four to create a craft that they will pilot down Fanny Hill in Snowmass and attempt to float across a 75x20 foot pond. Every team has a theme and will perform a skit before they descend. This event is just as ridiculous and hilarious as it sounds. Last year Red Bull awarded the first, second and third place teams with amazing prizes, from a trip to a NASCAR race to paragliding flights with the Red Bull Airforce. Stay tuned for this year’s prizes!

Starting back in February the Ski Resort extended certain main ski lift hours till 4pm but to celebrate Spring the ski resort has announced Sunset Skiing starting March 17, 2011!
The Summit Express lift and the Buttermilk Terrain Park will be open until 6 p.m. The theme will be St. Patrick’s Day. The Cliffhouse will be open for food and beverage options until 6 p.m. and then the party moves down to Bumps at Buttermilk Mountain Lodge.
Lift served skiing/riding will continue until 6 p.m. and the party continues with the Sundeck Moonlight Dinner, featuring dinner and drink specials and live music starting at 5:30 p.m. The last download is at 9:30 p.m.
Village Express, Big Burn, Coney Glade and the Snowmass Terrain Park will be open until 6:30 p.m. The Cirque will run until 6 p.m. conditions permitting. Sam’s Smokehouse will host a party from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. and then the party will head down to Sneaky’s Tavern in Snowmass Base Village. The event theme is April Fool’s Day Luau.
